What should you know before you buy an Indonesian number?
Indonesian numbers are among the cheapest in the world, and some apps deliver very well on them. The catch is the route: the same app can sell on two number pools with very different odds. Read the signal for your app, take the lane that delivers, and go abroad when the menu says habis.

An Indonesian number for one SMS code
You are signing up for an app and need a +62 Indonesian number that receives the verification code now. That is exactly what VSIM sells: pick the app, get a number, read the code on your order page, and get the full price back if it never comes.

A SIM card for life in Indonesia
Staying in Indonesia? A kartu perdana from Telkomsel, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison or XLSmart gives you a number of your own. Since 31 October 2017 every prepaid SIM has had to be registered against the owner’s identity data, and banks and e-wallets expect that number.
How cheap is an Indonesian number next to the rest of the world?
We put the same code from every country on a market trader’s scale. Indonesia is the cheapest country of all for 3 of these 17 apps, and in the cheapest tenth for 14. The lighter pan rises. A cheap number still has to deliver, so the rate sits on the price tag.

Same app, two Indonesian routes: which one delivers?
This is the part most buyers miss. 7 apps are sold on two Indonesian routes from different number pools, and the cheaper lane can be far slower. Each car in a queue is one number you should plan for before the code comes through. VSIM’s order page sends you through the better-delivering lane by default.

What does an Indonesian mobile number look like?
At home it starts with 08, such as 0812 3456 7890. Abroad the 0 drops and +62 goes in front: +62 812 3456 7890. The four digits from 08 point to the network that first issued the number. XL and Smartfren merged into XLSmart in April 2025, and Tri is part of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, so a few prefixes now belong to a new company.

What can a rented Indonesian number not open?

How do you get an Indonesian number and receive the code?
A wayang show opens and closes with the gunungan, the tree of life, held up against the screen. Our show has four scenes and takes about two minutes before the wait for the SMS.
Babak 1
Pick the app and Indonesia
Open the order page, choose the app, then Indonesia. The better-delivering route is chosen for you; switch to the cheaper one only when both lanes deliver about the same.
Babak 2
Pay from your balance
Top up from $1 in crypto first. The price comes off your balance when the number is issued and goes back in full if no code arrives.
Babak 3
Type the number into the app
Choose Indonesia, +62, in the app’s country list, then type the digits after +62 without the leading 0. Ask the app to send the code by SMS, not by call.
Babak 4
Read the code on your order page
The code appears on the page as soon as the SMS lands. If nothing comes within the timer, at most 20 minutes, the order closes and the price goes back to your balance.

Typing 0812 after +62
At home the number starts with 0. After +62 the 0 goes: type 812…, exactly as your order page shows it.
Choosing the cheaper lane by habit
For some apps the cheaper Indonesian route rarely delivers. Check the toll gate; the order page’s default lane is usually the better one.

What is an Indonesian virtual number for SMS verification?
A real Indonesian +62 number you rent on VSIM for one SMS code, with no SIM card, no contract and no ID. You type it into the app, read the code on your order page, and the number is yours for up to 20 minutes. If no code arrives in that time, the full price goes back to your balance.
How much does an Indonesian virtual number cost?
Today Indonesian numbers cost from $0.06 to $0.94 across 174 apps, and half of them cost $0.15 or less. Indonesia is the cheapest country in the world for 3 of the 17 popular apps on the market scale on this page. You pay once; when no code arrives, the price goes back to your balance.
Why is an Indonesian number so cheap?
Prices follow how many numbers are available for an app and how often they deliver. Indonesia has a large supply of numbers, so its prices sit near the bottom for most apps. A low price is not a promise of delivery: for some apps the cheapest Indonesian route rarely delivers, which is why this page shows each route’s rate.
Which apps work best with an Indonesian number?
Right now Amazon (63%), Didi (61%), TikTok (56%), Alipay (54%), WeChat (45%). 4 of the 20 apps with a measured Indonesian rate deliver at least half their codes. The menu board on this page lists every one, refreshed every 15 minutes.
Can I use an Indonesian number for WhatsApp?
You can try: 28% of recent WhatsApp orders on Indonesian numbers got the code, for $1.50. In our own log Indonesia was the third-best WhatsApp country among those with 25 or more orders: 18 codes from 101 orders, 18%, after Canada at 35% and South Africa at 23%. The best WhatsApp route today is Brazil at 73%.
Is an Indonesian number good for Telegram?
Usually not. In our own log Telegram on Indonesian numbers got 4 codes from 384 orders, 1%, against 13% for Telegram across every country. The best Telegram route today is Lithuania at 58% for $0.93.
Why does the same app have two prices for Indonesia?
Some apps are sold on two Indonesian routes from different number pools. They can deliver very differently: The order page picks the better-delivering route by default; the toll gate on this page shows both.
Can I use an Indonesian number for WeChat?
Yes, on the right route: 45% of recent WeChat orders on the better Indonesian route got the code, for $0.20. In our own log, 7 of 13 WeChat orders on Indonesian numbers got the code.
Which country do I pick in the app?
Pick Indonesia, +62. Then type the number without the leading 0 and without spaces, exactly as your order page shows it after +62. An Indonesian mobile number written 0812 3456 7890 at home becomes +62 812 3456 7890.
Does the prefix show which network an Indonesian number is on?
It shows which network first issued it. Indonesian mobile numbers start with 08 at home, and the next two digits point to the operator: 0811 to 0813 for Telkomsel, 0855 to 0858 for Indosat, 0895 to 0899 for Tri, 0817 to 0819 for XL and 0881 to 0889 for Smartfren. XL and Smartfren merged into XLSmart in 2025. The starter-pack reader on this page reads any number in your browser.
Is Indonesia better than Malaysia or the Philippines for SMS codes?
It depends on the app. Counting apps that deliver at least half their codes today: India 5, Thailand 5, Indonesia 4, Hong Kong 3. The scoreboard on this page puts eight countries side by side for each app.
What happens if the code never arrives?
The order closes when its timer runs out, at most 20 minutes, and the full price goes back to your balance. You can cancel earlier. A missed code costs you time, not money.
Can I use an Indonesian virtual number for mobile banking or an e-wallet?
No. Banks and e-wallets send codes to a number you hold, again and again, and Indonesian prepaid SIMs have been registered against the owner’s identity since 31 October 2017. A rented number is gone after one code, so you would lock yourself out.
Can I keep an Indonesian number after the code?
No. A one-code number is yours for up to 20 minutes. If you need to receive codes on the same number again, VSIM sells permanent numbers in the United States.
