What does a Greek mobile number look like?

Ten digits after +30: +30 694 123 4567. In 2002 Greece moved every number to ten digits; mobile numbers, which began with 09, changed the 0 to a 6, and landlines took a 2. So there is no trunk 0 to drop, and an old card that says 0944 means 6944 today.

The third digit once named the network: 690 and 693 for Wind, now Nova; 694 and 695 for Vodafone; 697 and 698 for Cosmote; 699 for Q-Telecom, later Wind. Numbers have moved freely between networks since 2004, so today it only tells you who issued the number first.

What can a rented Greek number not open?

After a failed order, buying again on the same route got a code 13% of the time (4,435 retries). Switching to another route for the same country got 21%, and switching country 11%. Most people retried fast: 5,565 of 8,105 retries came within two minutes.
